Praxair, Inc., a leading industrial gas subsidiary of Linde plc, has reportedly announced that it is planning to construct a world-class hydrogen facility in the state of Louisiana. As per trusted sources, Praxair would supply hydrogen to a prominent refinery in the region as part of a long-term agreement.

Reportedly, the new facility is slated to be combined with the widespread Louisiana production network of Praxair through its Mississippi River Corridor hydrogen pipeline system. Sources familiar with the development claim that the new plant would be one of the largest hydrogen manufacturing facilities in the United States.

According to a press release from Praxair Inc., the company would also build a new steam methane reformer (SMR) in Texas and is slated to commence operations by 2021. The company would build, own, and operate the SMR. The new facility would have a total manufacturing capability of more than 170 million standard cubic feet each day of high-purity hydrogen.

Reportedly, Linde Engineering has been chosen to build a latest process design and to fabricate the major components and modules of the facility. After completion, this project is anticipated to enhance the firm’s U.S. Gulf Coast hydrogen capacity to over 1.7 billion standard cubic feet each day.
